While consumers around the world are eagerly waiting to get a taste of Jelly Bean on their Android devices, rumors have been going around about the next version. Keeping up with the tradition of naming their OS after a sweet or dessert, the next Android could be called the “Key Lime Pie”. A Google+ post from a Google employee shares a comic strip depicting the Android evolution.
The latest version of Android, 4.1, named Jelly Bean was announced during the Google I/O earlier this year. Android 4.1, now updated to 4.2, brought major enhancements to the popular Google OS in terms of performance, voice search and various customization options.
Google I/O 2013, starts May 15, and this is where the next version of Android “Key Lime Pie” could be announced. Key Lime Pie is a dessert, and follows the naming tradition of Android OS starting with Cupcakes, Donuts, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice-cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.
